Description

Take advantage of special beach gear and bike credit! This Kiawah Island vacation rental, located at 1030 Sparrow Pond, is a renovated three bedroom cottage offering a wraparound deck, screened porch, access to the seasonal community pool, and is a 3 minute walk to the beach.

PLEASE NOTE: This villa has received as of Spring 2020, 2 new queen beds and mattresses, new decor, and new patio furniture. New photos will be uploaded soon!

The cottage greets you with beautiful hardwood floors, elevated wainscoting, and coastal charm. The open living room features a sectional sofa with ottoman, two cozy chairs, and a large flat-screen TV. The living room may be converted into additional sleeping quarters - the ottoman fits into the sofa to make a double bed. The large, fully equipped kitchen offers stainless steel appliances and plenty of cabinet space. A stacked washer and dryer are discreetly located in the kitchen. The oval dining table comfortably seats six people. The first bedroom offers a queen bed and private bathroom with shower. The other queen bedroom features a TV and shares a bathroom with a bedroom that has two twin beds. Each room has its own sink and toilet area and the shower/tub combo is shared. Both of these bedrooms have access to the side deck. The back deck and screened porch are accessed from the living room. A rocking swing, located beneath the front porch, is the perfect place to enjoy the cool ocean breeze. The cottage offers high speed wireless internet. The community pool is approximately 55ft x 20ft.

Guest reservations of 3 to 21 nights come with a valuable credit to use towards beach gear rentals during your stay! The credit amount for this property is $250. You may use your credit for bicycles, beach chairs and umbrellas, beach carts, kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, and more – the choice is yours!

During your stay on Kiawah Island, be sure to enjoy biking on the 30 miles of flat bike trails, golfing on one of five world-class courses, playing tennis, crabbing, fishing, swimming, and boating. Many families also enjoy the kids’ camp and nature programs at Night Heron Park.

Kiawah Island is about 40 minutes from historic Charleston, famous for incredible shopping, galleries, antique stores, museums, the South Carolina Aquarium, horse-drawn carriage rides, historic landmarks, and sumptuous dining.

Rates may change prior to booking and do not include fees and taxes.
Stays of 3 nights or less will be charged an additional fee for housekeeping.

RESERVATION PROCESS: Your reservation is not confirmed until you return the Akers Ellis Rental Agreement. This document will be sent to you via email within a few hours of making your reservation. You need to review and electronically fill out, sign, and submit the agreement within 24 hours. Once returned, Akers Ellis will collect payment and send you a reservation confirmation via email.

Overall, it was a nice location and well-suited rental. It fit our needs and we hope to return again!

However, there are several things I wish I knew before we arrived or would wish were changed:
- The house sleeps 6-8, but there are only 5 soup/cereal bowls. So, if you plan on everyone having cereal for breakfast, bring bowls. Also, there are exactly 6 spoons and a few of those were quite large for eating with.
- There is NO ice maker even though the listing says there is one. Not a huge deal as we just grabbed a bag of ice, but I wish we had known so we didn't have to go back out to get it.
- The walk to the beach is defintely NOT 3 minutes. We timed it- 7-8 minutes. Still not bad and totally doable.
- You are pretty much on your own for finding your way to the beach. They said they included a map, but there was no map. We called and asked for one, but we never heard back from them. So, on your way in, ask for one at the security check-point. We tried to use our phone GSP, but that just took us to a cul-de-sac. We eventually found a hidden gate in a privacy fence, but I am not sure that was what we were supposed to do. The rest of the week, we ended up just going ot Boardwalk 1. A slightly longer walk (by like 1 minute), but more accessable and at the end of a trail so easy to find. I wish they gave you more specific instructions on how to reach the beach. That was frustrating when we arrived.

We enjoyed our week and the rental house. The gear credit was great! Just might want to correct some things on the listing (like distance to beach and ice maker) and maybe have more specific directions to the beach. Overall we were very satisfied.

Our family of 5 had plenty of room in this cottage. Loved the location - biked or walked to the beach everyday. The pool was a few steps away; groceries a short drive or bike ride; Mingo Point oyster roast was easy for everyone to bike to; plus fishing and restaurants at Bohicket just a short drive away. We didn't miss the amenity cards - we had everything we needed so close. Easy to check in and check out - would definitely rent from Akers next time we are in Kiawah. Awesome experience!

This property was ideally located for us for running the Kiawah Island Half Marathon. It was walking distance from a shuttle that took us right to the start and then back to the property at the end of the race. We had a nice cozy stay on a cold weekend.

Kiawah Island was my families vacation spot as a child, my parents loved Kiawah, year after year. Sparrow Pond Cottages was one of our frequented stays. I wanted to give my children and wife the Kiawah Island experience I remembered as a child, it’s been 30+ years. Well, we give Kiawah Island and 1030 Sparrow Pond Cottage full marks. We had an extremely easy check in and check out experience. The property description was exactly as described for location, layout, amenities, etc. The cottage property was clean, well maintained and accurate upgrades. We enjoyed bike rides, tennis, crabbing and fishing, dolphin watch, fishing charter, The Sanctuary and market. Although we did not golf, the courses looked awesome and wonderfully maintained...we’ll have to include our next visit. So much has changed yet remained the same wonderful vacation destination. New home building on the island was just beginning as I recall. And yet nothing has changed with the quiet, beautiful charm of Kiawah Island. Fresh Fields was an absolute delight within a quick drive.... sure didn’t have anything like that as a kid. We would recommend to a friend or relative and plan to return to Kiawah Island soon.

This was our second stay on KI. The location is great and close to the beach. The cottage was well appointed and included almost everything we needed for the week. Akers Ellis is awesome. Their constant communication and follow up can't be beat. Love the Akers Ellis team and going direct saves a lot of money which is a plus. The pool for this area of the resort is serviceable but small compared to other area. Would definitely recommend this cottage and Akers Ellis.

The house was well appointed with everything we needed. The size was perfect for the three of us and would have accommodated three more people quite nicely. Furnishings are comfortable and of good quality. The location within Kiawah is great, close to the beach and very quiet. Outdoor spaces are great with plenty of area to enjoy the wooded landscape.

We have visited Kiawah many, many times and love it. This rental was nice and in a good location. It was clean and attractive. It was lacking a few things such as it only had 2 TVs. Most rentals have one in each bedroom. The kitchen was also not very well stocked...lacking serving bowls and enough coffee mugs and things like that. Also the bed in the back bedroom was very saggy. My husband and I keep rolling to the center.

The cottage was lovely, great amenities. The only negative was the bed in the master bedroom. it was very uncomfortable. A new mattress is needed ASAP.

Perfect location. Nice amenities in house but bathrooms need a little work. The pedestal sink in front bathroom is very loose and bathtub and surrounding tile didn't look clean (mold/mildew). Also faucet in kitchen needs some work. But overall a great place.

After regular visits to Kiawah over the last 27 years, this is the first time we have rented from Akers Ellis and only the second time staying in this location on the island. Things could not have been better. The 'beach cottage' was exactly as pictured and the perfect place to host a group of 3-6 people. The decor was lovely and the modern, open redesign of the cottage was great for spending time together. It was a real bonus to have 3 usable deck areas that followed the sun throughout the day. Kiawah never disappoints and I feel the same way about Akers Ellis rentals. This place will not disappoint! (As an aside....any questions I had at any time of day were responded to almost immediately by the Akers Ellis contact....wonderful service).

The cottage was perfect for our needs: 4 adults, eating in, relaxing, enjoying nature in the immediate vicinity, beach walking, reading by the pool. All we needed was right there. Loved the layout of the cottage. Hope to come back next year!
