
Tidal Trails, located on beautiful Kiawah Island, offers water activities for all ages and skill levels. They have been offering guided nature tours since 1997 but have recently gone under new ownership. The better-than-ever company is offering fun and innovative tours that will have you loving the island even more. The eleven miles of Kiawah beach offer ample space to kayak, paddleboard, surf, and explore via boat. These self-guided or independent tours are a great way to make memories during your Kiawah Island vacation.
Guided power boat tours are the perfect platform to sit back, relax, and enjoy an intimate tour of our beautiful barrier islands. Tours last an hour and a half to two hours. The boats hold 2 to 6 people comfortably and the price depends on how many people will be participating in the activity. It’s the perfect excursion for relaxing in the sun or enjoying the sights of nature. Join them for a guided Dolphin Discovery Nature Tour and be within feet of these beautiful creatures. Make sure to pack your sunscreen, boat shoes, and your camera to capture once in a lifetime pictures. They also offer a guided sunset tours or customizable boat trips based on your interests. For example, you can explore creeks and waterways, get dirty catching crabs in the pluff mud, travel to Folly Beach, West Ashley, or downtown Charleston, or have some fun tubing on the wake of the boat.
A very popular excursion is their kayak tours. It is the perfect tour for adventure seekers, as you are bound to come close to natural inhabitants of the Atlantic Intracoastal waterway during the two-hour tour. Don’t forget to bring sunscreen, bug spray, a hat, appropriate shoes, and water to stay hydrated. They also offer private kayak tours, pluff mud paddles, and sunset paddles.
Stand-up paddleboard tours are fun for all ages. Stand-up paddleboards can be described as an oversized surfboard that you balance on and use a paddle to move across the water. Whether it’s for exercise or just fun, get out there, get active, and paddle! Each class begins with a short introductory brief, so beginners are welcomed. Guests must be at least 12 years of age and know how to swim. Tidal Trails also offers private family paddleboard tours, stand-up paddleboard yoga, and even private lessons.
If kayaking or paddleboarding isn’t your thing, don’t worry! Tidal Trails also offers surfing lessons. They cover the basics of the surfboard to help you master the waves. Guests must be 10 years of age and must be able to swim in order to participate. The guides are more than happy to accommodate the lesson plans to suit your needs. Surf camp is held Tuesday through Thursday and is open for children 8-15. Beach activities, team building, surf gear, and lunch are included in the daily camp price. This fun and safe event is one you and your children will not want to miss!
If you are an experienced kayaker, paddleboarder, or surfer, feel free to rent their gear and take it out for your own self-guided tour. They can be rented half a day, full day, 3 or more days, or weekly.
