07/17/2025 - 9:00am to 10:00am
Join the Kiawah Conservancy for a special Junior Explorers summer event, hosted in partnership with the Town of Kiawah Island Turtle Patrol and the Kiawah Island Community Association. This family-friendly program invites young nature lovers to participate in a hands-on mock sea turtle nesting and hatching activity, led by a Turtle Patrol volunteer. After the demonstration, there will be a Q&A session to learn more about the important role the Turtle Patrol plays in protecting loggerhead sea turtles.
Please note that the demonstration will use toy hatchlings and ping pong balls. No live turtles will be involved.
Participants must be at least 5 years old, and a parent or guardian must remain with their child during the event. Each child will receive a Junior Explorers backpack, membership card, and other fun items. Sunscreen is encouraged, and a refillable water bottle is recommended. A water station will be available.
Registration is required to attend.
Location: The Sandcastle (1 Shipwatch Road, Kiawah Island)
Gate pass instructions will be sent upon registration. For event and registration questions, please contact Katie Jonjevic at katie@kiawahconservancy.org
