Steven Ellis

Steven Ellis is a ninth-generation South Carolinian with deep roots in the Lowcountry and a distinguished background in hospitality, real estate, and vacation rental management. A graduate of Presbyterian College, he also studied at Oxford University’s Corpus Christi College before beginning his career with Kiawah Island Golf Resort. During his tenure there, Steven advanced into leadership roles including Director of Guest Services and Director of Rental Operations, contributing to the resort’s growth into one of the nation’s premier luxury destinations. He also assisted with the openings of The Hermitage Hotel, The Jefferson Hotel, and The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island Golf Resort.

In 2005, Steven transitioned into residential real estate and later co-founded Akers Ellis Real Estate with business partner Jeff Akers. Since then, he has played a central role in the company’s growth and success. Recognized as one of the Charleston area’s top-producing real estate professionals, Steven now serves as Broker-in-Charge, overseeing and mentoring a team of professionally licensed agents while continuing to guide the firm’s strategic direction. He also co-founded Akers Ellis Rentals with Jeff Akers, helping grow the company into one of Kiawah Island’s leading vacation rental management firms. In 2026, Jeff retired from the rental company.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Steven is deeply committed to philanthropy and community involvement. Under his leadership, Akers Ellis has supported numerous charitable organizations throughout the Charleston region, including Habitat for Humanity, MUSC Hollings Cancer Center, Warrior Surf Foundation, Charleston HALOS, and Kiawah Conservancy. He also serves on the Board of Directors and as Treasurer for Charleston Area Therapeutic Riding.

Steven resides on Johns Island with his wife, Molly, and their daughter. He also owns property on Kiawah Island. Known for his leadership, generosity, and strong community ties, he remains actively involved in conservation efforts, charitable initiatives, and the continued growth of the Lowcountry communities he has long called home.
