Non-Profit Spotlight: Charleston HALOS

When Steven Ellis and Jeff Akers discovered HALOS, they knew they had found a group with a mission they wanted to support. Since learning about HALOS, Akers Ellis has been a proud supporter of this incredible non-profit organization and its important role in the local community.

HALOS was founded in 1997 by Dr. Eve Spratt, a Charleston-area child psychiatrist and pediatrician. Dr. Spratt saw firsthand the need for an organization to support kinship families, who often lacked many of the resources available to foster parents.

Kinship care keeps children, who might otherwise go into foster care, with grandparents, relatives, or close family friends which provides stability and gives children a feeling of identity and belonging.

Kinship care: Loved ones caring for a child when the parents are unable to do so.

Akers Ellis & HALOS

Since 2014, Akers Ellis has been honored to support HALOS. Over the years our team has worked with HALOS to participate in school supply drives, provide meals at Thanksgiving, and sponsor children for the holiday season.

We are beyond grateful for the work HALOS has done in our community and look forward to supporting their mission for many years to come.
