Akers Ellis Gives Back to Our Community

While Akers Ellis Real Estate and Rentals has been part of the Charleston area since 2007, many of our employees were born and raised right here in Charleston. We take great pride in the Lowcountry that we call home and love providing our real estate expertise to locals and hosting visitors in our vacation rentals on Kiawah Island. The Charleston area has a special place in our hearts and that is why Akers Ellis is always eager to give back to our community. We believe giving to local charities keeps our community and company strong.

As the season of giving is upon us, we reflect on the local organizations Akers Ellis has monetarily donated to, donated other gifts to or given our volunteer time to in 2017.

We're Proud to Have Donated to the Following Organizations

Water Mission

Water Mission Charleston | Season of Giving

Water Mission is headquartered in Charleston, South Carolina, with over 50 staff members including engineers, community development specialists, researchers, and administrative professionals who all work to design safe water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) solutions for communities located in Africa, Asia, North, South and Central America and the Caribbean.

A local boy, Scotty Parker, and one of our very own, Peter Conway, recently rode their bikes across America and raised $622,314 for Water Mission.

We also sponsored Walk for Water, which raises money to save lives and raises awareness for the millions of women and children that walk an average of 3.5 miles to collect water that’s not safe.

Charleston Collegiate

Charleston Collegiate, located on Johns Island, is a wonderful school that Akers Ellis has been able to assist through donating to their scholarship program and sponsoring their Run Like the Devil 5K.

Sea Island Habitat for Humanity's Women Build brings together women from all walks of life to build a safe, decent and affordable home for a family in need. This empowering event creates a “we can do it” bond among Women Builders. Akers Ellis was able to donate monetarily and some of our agents even volunteered their time to help complete the home.

Dogtoberfest

This yearly October event includes a wine tasting, craft beer, delicious food, live entertainment, on-site vendors, a pet costume contest, giveaways, and so much more. Proceeds from Dogtoberfest benefit the participating pet rescue organizations, including Shih Tzus and Furbabies, Grateful Goldens Rescue, Greyhound Pets of America - Charleston, Carolina Coonhound Rescue, Water’s Edge Animal Rescue, Lowcountry Lab Rescue and King Charles Cavalier Spaniel Rescue.
